Les Salines of Tamarin is a fascinating place to visit and discover. Salt production is common in this part of the island, and this production is sufficient to meet the needs of this small island.It is common to see women fitted with big hats to protect them from the sun, and rubber boots to work there.
With shovels, gloves and cups, they are responsible for the production of salt with a craft and ancestral technique which dates back to almost two centuries, a method that remains astonishingly simple. Enjoy a picturesque early morning show.
Le Morne is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located in the southwest of the island, and displays a beautiful as well as spectacular landscape. This site holds a special place in the history and memory of Mauritius. It is connected to the history of slavery, becoming a symbol of resistance to these captives.
